چکیده

Oestrogen receptors (ER) status of 50 cases of carcinoma breast was determined with peroxidase antiperoxidase (PAP) technique, on paraffin embedded tissue. 30/50 cases were ER +ve and 20/50 were ER-ye. After an 18 months follow up there was a significant difference in the survival of ER+ve and ER-ye cases with the former doing much better. This has prognostic significance. Routine use of ER detection by this method can be of great assistance to the clinician treating carcinoma breast (JPMA 36: 64 ,1988).

Quantification of oestrogen receptors in breast cancer: radiochemical assay on cytosols and cryostat sections compared with semiquantitative immunocytochemical analysis.

A radiochemical oestrogen receptor assay on cytosol was correlated with a radiochemical and an immunohistochemical oestrogen receptor assay using cryostat sections from 50 breast cancer specimens. Oestrogen receptors were reliably quantitated in 6 micron cryostat sections with Scatchard analysis using radiolabelled oestradiol, and a good quantitative and qualitative relation with cytosol oestro...

PRODUCTIO N OF PROSTATE-SPECIFIC ANTIGEN (PSA) BY A BREAST CANCER CELL LINE, SK-Br-3

PSA is a 33-KDa serine protease that is produced predominantly by prostate epithelium. However, it has been shown that about 30-40% of female breast tumors produce PSA and its production is associated with the presence of estrogen and progesterone receptors. We have now developed a new tissue culture system to study PSA production in breast cancer and its association with prognostic factors...

High Expression of Sphingosine Kinase 1 in Estrogen and Progesterone Receptors-Negative Breast Cancer

Background & objective: Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer related death in females. Sphingosine kinase 1 (SPHK1) and its product sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) are the essential key regulator molecules in breast cancer through their ability to promote cell proliferation, angiogenesis, cell proliferation, and lymphagiogenesis. SPHK1 i...
